Exeter’s approach demonstrates how partnerships can adapt to meet the needs of different age groups, combining insight, prevention and practical action to create a safer and more supportive night-time environment.

Over the past year, the partnership has delivered a wide range of initiatives designed to reach young people and families in different settings. This includes interactive alcohol education in schools, alongside community outreach and engagement through sports clubs, local events and the night-time economy.

A key initiative was the Community Christmas Movie Night, an alcohol-free event attended by around 150 residents, including approximately 100 young people. Alongside a screening of The Grinch, families took part in craft activities and seasonal celebrations.

Community Alcohol Partnerships and the Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT) are working together to support communities in Scotland’s former mining areas to address alcohol-related harm and improve wellbeing.

We have a growing network of CAPs across North Lanarkshire with 7 active CAPs and more planned. Viewpark and Bellshill and Kilsyth CAPs have becomea driving force and are being awarded joint winners for CAP of the Year (Scotland) in 2025.

Recognising that disengagement and anti-social behaviour often go hand-in-hand, Fylde CAP prioritised youth engagement from the start. Working with local schools, the CAP developed a mentorship programme for young people at risk of exclusion

In Edinburgh, CAPs have made great connections with retailers, schools, the local authority and councillors, MPs, community groups, youth clubs and even the army.

Cardiff CAP was launched in 2018 and covers the largest city in Wales with a considerable student population.
