Nominations open for 2025 CAP Awards: Celebrating excellence in tackling underage drinking

Community Alcohol Partnerships (CAP) is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2025 CAP Awards, recognising outstanding contributions in tackling underage drinking and promoting responsible drinking among children and young people. The awards are open to individuals and organisations that have demonstrated exceptional achievements within CAPs during 2023/24.

Nominations will be open from Tuesday  01 October and close on Friday 29 November at 1pm with the winners set to be awarded at an event to be held in London in early 2025.

Among 2023’s award winners were:

  • Cardiff’s Safety Bus Initiative, which has provided critical support to over 600 vulnerable individuals offering safety and assistance on Cardiff’s busiest nights.
  • PCs Anna Morrison and Lauren Mitchell from Edinburgh Constabulary, recognised for their outstanding work in engaging with young people and educating them on the dangers of alcohol misuse.
  • Burnley CAP, which made a significant impact by reducing anti-social behaviour in the community. Their proactive engagement with young people, offering advice and promoting local activities, helped keep them off the streets.

The CAP Awards highlight the incredible work being done by over 280 Community Alcohol Partnerships across the UK. CAPs unite local stakeholders, including retailers, local authorities, police, schools, neighbourhood groups, and health providers, to protect children and young people from alcohol harm and encourage responsible drinking among young adults.

Kate Winstanley, Director of CAP comments: “We’re thrilled to open nominations for the 2025 CAP Awards and recognise the incredible work being done across the UK to combat underage drinking and promote responsible drinking among young people. From innovative initiatives like Cardiff’s Safety Bus to the tireless efforts of police officers and local communities, these awards highlight the real impact CAPs have in educating children and young people about underage drinking.”
